What is the ruling on one who climbs the walls of the mosque, breaks its locks, and hangs partisan posters that disfigure its walls?

Mosques were built for prayer, remembrance (dhikr), and recitation of the Quran, and for uniting the word of the Muslims, not for spreading partisan fanaticism and conflicts that divide Muslims and propagate enmity and hatred among them. Therefore, Muslims must fear Allah and keep mosques free from such disputes, and work to unify their ranks and reject disunity. Furthermore, it is not permissible to tamper with the mosque's walls, keys, and tools.
