Is the right of a person whom I wronged and struck forfeited after he forgave me for my injustice, and I did not stipulate that he forgive me in order for him to work for me? Then I emphasized the question to him: "Is your forgiveness conditional on anything?" and he replied in the negative. Then I asked him again: "Have you relinquished your right against me?" and he replied: "Yes, I have relinquished my right"?

If a man explicitly forgives you and absolves you of his right, then his right is forfeited, based on what Al-Bukhari said: "Chapter: If he absolves him of his injustice, there is no reverting from it." However, you must repent to Allah, because the transgression involves two rights: a right of Allah and a right of the human being. Therefore, repentance involves seeking absolution from the human being for his right, and feeling remorse between you and Allah for His right.
