What is the ruling on excessive prolongation (madd) in Quranic recitation, such as in the tapes of Sheikh Hazza Al-Musawwari?

The reciter Hazza Al-Masouri recites with the narration of Hafs from Asim, and his prolongations (mudud) are in accordance with the rules of recitation. Reciters vary in the length and shortness of the prolongation (tartīl, tadwīr, hadhr), and all of them permit what others recite with. Hamzah, Warsh, and Asim recite with tartīl, Ibn Amir and Al-Kisa'i with tadwīr, and Al-Makki, Al-Basri, and Qalun with hadhr. It is incorrect for one to recite with idmāj (merging) and matt (stretching).
