Are fasting and prayer accepted from a person afflicted with gonorrhea?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The discharge of pus from the urethra does not affect fasting. As for prayer, pus nullifies ablution (Wudu'). If the discharge of pus is continuous, the patient is considered to be in the ruling of one afflicted with سلس (incontinence); he performs ablution for each prayer after its time has begun, and whatever is discharged thereafter does not harm him. He must also prevent the spread of impurity. However, if the discharge stops at certain times, sufficient for him to purify himself and pray, then he must wait until it stops, perform ablution, and pray. If the illness resulted from an illicit relationship, sincere repentance erases sins.
