Is a person considered to have committed a major sin or to be in error for being sexually inclined towards the same sex? Does this mean that Hell awaits them and that Allah does not love them, especially if they do not practice sodomy? Can this tribulation be considered a great reward for those who endure it patiently and abstain from forbidden acts?

Allah is more merciful to His servants than they are to themselves. He wrongs no one and has no need to torment those who obey Him. Allah has not burdened His servants with more than they can bear. He has not forbidden anything but that they are capable of abandoning it, and He has not enjoined anything but that they are capable of performing it, as Allah Almighty says: (Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity). Accountability is for speech and action, not merely for fleeting thoughts or inner whispers. Whoever strives against his soul and restrains it from its desires is promised Paradise and Allah's pleasure; he is rewarded for his deeds and excused for what he is unable to do. The crime is committing sodomy and engaging in perversion. As for mere inclination or inner thoughts, a servant is not held accountable for them.
