If the distance traveled by the captive with the enemies is less than the distance for qasr (shortening prayers), then he does not benefit from the concessions of travel. If it exceeds that distance and he is within their fortresses, the preponderant opinion is that he completes the prayer and has the rulings of a resident. Thus, he is not permitted to break his fast, and he may wipe over his khuff for one day and one night. This is the view of the majority of jurists. Some Hanbalis mentioned that he may avail himself of the concessions of travel, similar to someone unjustly imprisoned. If the captive is moved from one place to another over the distance for qasr, then he may shorten the prayer. If the captive resolves to escape and is able to do so, then what is considered for him is the intention of the disbelievers regarding travel and residency, not his own intention.
