Does God cause a servant to fall into the sin of masturbation when his worship increases due to his feeling of self-admiration, and does this apply to one who practices it despite his commitment and increased supererogatory acts of worship?

Allah may afflict a servant with a sin to draw him back to Him and to prevent him from becoming conceited about his good deeds. A sin coupled with repentance may be more beneficial than many acts of obedience that lead to self-admiration. A servant might commit a sin that leads him to Paradise due to his abundant repentance and brokenness, while another might perform an act of obedience that leads him to Hell due to his conceit and arrogance. A person's condition may improve after a sin through his repentance and turning back to Allah.

Know that masturbation is Islamically forbidden, and it brings misfortune upon a person in this world and the Hereafter if he does not repent. To get rid of it: 1. Associate with the righteous and benefit from them. 2. Persist in remembrance (dhikr) and reading the Quran. 3. Establish a beneficial program for learning sciences. 4. Establish an exercise program. 5. Increase voluntary acts of worship, especially voluntary fasting, to resist lust. 6. Be diligent in supplicating and asking Allah to help you overcome it. 7. Avoid solitude. 8. Be keen on praying in the mosque and performing night prayers (Qiyam al-Layl). 9. Continue to repent, cry out of fear of Allah, and show brokenness before Him. Do not despair of Allah's mercy, and increase in performing voluntary acts of worship and good deeds, for "indeed, good deeds do away with evil deeds."
