Is it impermissible to sell products made from PVC due to their potential to cause cancer, and is this considered a substantial harm?

The default ruling is the permissibility of selling products made from PVC, based on the generality of Allah's saying: ﴿It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth﴾, and His saying: ﴿Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good things, of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life [and] exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection."﴾, and on the principle that "The original ruling for things and benefits is permissibility, unless there is evidence proving their prohibition." However, if it is proven that their use causes certain and extensive harm, then their sale is prohibited, based on Allah's saying: ﴿And do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction﴾, and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm."
