What is the share of each of the sons, daughters, and wife from the sum of 50,000 dinars left by the deceased father?

To explain how an inheritance is to be divided, the heirs must be accurately enumerated. If a man dies, leaving behind only his wife, a son, and five daughters, his wife receives one-eighth due to the existence of a lineal descendant, based on the Almighty’s saying: "But if you have a child, then for them [the wives] is one eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt." The remainder goes to the son and daughters by way of ta'sib (residuary inheritance), with the male receiving the share of two females, based on the Almighty’s saying: "Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females."

The wife receives one-eighth because she is the deceased's wife, regardless of whether she is the mother of his children. So, if the amount is 50,000 dinars, it is divided into eight shares: one share for the wife (6,250 dinars), two shares for the son (12,500 dinars), and one share for each daughter (6,250 dinars).

The matter of inheritances is serious and complex, and there may be other heirs, bequests, or debts unknown to the heirs, which take precedence over the heirs' rights. Therefore, inheritance should not be divided without consulting the Sharia courts or knowledgeable scholars.
