Is it permissible to dye parts of the hair, such as its ends or top only?

If hair is dyed black, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it, saying: "Change this grey hair, but avoid black." There is also a stern warning against it, indicating its prohibition. As for dyeing it with a color other than black, it is permissible, unless it resembles the style of disbelieving or immoral women, in which case it is forbidden, due to the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them."
