Do Muslims or Christians benefit worldly from lowering their gaze and abandoning masturbation if that is an acquired habit and not done for the sake of Allah?
If a Muslim abandons a sin, he is not rewarded for that unless he intends thereby the countenance of Allah. However, he benefits from abandoning it in this world by being saved from its punishment, which includes a lack of success, corruption of opinion and heart, and constriction of the chest, among other things. As for the disbeliever, he is not rewarded in the Hereafter for his good deeds, but rather he is rewarded for them only in this world. And abandoning evil deeds for other than Allah is not rewarded, but he benefits from it by being safe from worldly punishments.
