Who is addressed in the noble verse: "And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter, and more astray in way"? And what is its interpretation?

The scholars differed in interpreting the Almighty’s saying: (‌And ‌whoever ‌is blind in this [life] - then he will be in the Hereafter blind and more astray in [his] way), with some opinions stating: that blindness refers to blindness to thanking Allah for His blessings in this world, or to Allah's power and His signs, and whoever is thus, will be in the Hereafter blind and more astray in his way. Al-Tabari chose the meaning: whoever in this world was blind to Allah's proofs that He is the sole Creator and Administrator, then he will be in the matter of the Hereafter blind and more astray in his way. Ibn Al-Qayyim emphasizes that a servant dies and is resurrected upon what he lived and died upon, and that blindness in this world to guidance leads to greater blindness and misguidance in the Hereafter. This verse is general to everyone who was blind to the truth and Allah's signs.
