If the shop stipulates to the garment owner that it will dispose of the garments if they are not collected within a specified period, then the shop is permitted to use them or give them away as charity. However, if there is no such stipulation, then the garments are a trust with the shop, and the shop owner may demand a storage fee for the extended period. If the shop owner despairs of the owner coming to collect them, they should give them away as charity to the poor and needy.
