What is the ruling of Sharia on the struggle for the presidency among Islamists in Egypt?

The ruling on seeking leadership and authority varies depending on the intention and goal of the one seeking it. It is blameworthy for whoever seeks it for worldly gain or obtains it by asking, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not seek leadership, for if you are given it due to asking, you will be left to it, and if you are given it without asking, you will be aided in it," and his saying: "O Abu Dharr, you are weak, and indeed it is a trust, and on the Day of Judgment, it will be a humiliation and regret, except for one who takes it rightfully and fulfills what is due upon him concerning it." It is blameworthy for whoever asks for it or is keen on it, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "By Allah, we do not entrust this work to anyone who asks for it, nor to anyone who is keen on it." As for one who seeks it to support his religion, establish justice, and implement the Sharia, and is competent, he is praised and rewarded, especially if it becomes incumbent upon him.
