What should we do regarding the sheikhs who are eligible for the imamate in our mosque?

Those who are worthy of leading the prayer (Imamah) should be advised to put forward the best among them, in adherence to the Sunnah. As for those who put themselves forward for Imamah but are not qualified for it, they must be advised by clarifying the seriousness of such an act, and that the prayer performed behind them is valid if they lead it correctly. And those who abandon congregational prayer despite being able to perform it should be advised of its obligation and the clarification of its virtues.
