Is it permissible for a sales manager to offer a special discount to a customer on another product from the same company, with the aim of encouraging them to purchase the manager’s products in the future?
If the client will purchase the car for himself, it is not permissible to grant him a special discount, as this might lead him to purchase cranes from you in the future at the expense of the company he works for, and this is considered a form of prohibited bribery. However, if he will purchase the car for the company, there is no harm in that because the beneficiary is the company. Ibn Baz advised fulfilling trustworthiness in work and avoiding favoritism or taking bribes. The Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas stated that it is not permissible for an intermediary to take a commission from another company in exchange for its dealings with the company he works for, because it might affect the quality of the price or the goods.
