Is Zakat al-Fitr due from me for a missing family member?

The ruling on Zakat al-Fitr for a missing person is detailed as follows:

1. If the missing person is not financially dependent on anyone and possesses wealth: Their guardian is to pay Zakat on their wealth and Zakat al-Fitr on their behalf, based on the Maliki jurists' view.

2. If the missing person is someone whose financial maintenance is obligatory upon another (such as a poor child): If their life is known, then the one responsible for their maintenance must pay Zakat al-Fitr on their behalf. If there is doubt about their life, then their Fitr is not obligatory, as stated by Ibn Qudamah in Al-Mughni.
