What is the difference between alimony/maintenance (nafaqah) and custody (hadanah), and does alimony/maintenance fall if custody falls?

Custody: Preserving one who cannot manage their own affairs and raising them in a way that benefits them.

The difference between them: Custody is mostly the right of women, while alimony is often obligatory upon men.

No necessary connection between them: Custody may be for one person and alimony upon another, or they may both be combined.
