Does divorce take effect with the words "Okay, I will" in response to a child's request for divorce?

Divorce does not occur merely by informing, promising, or threatening to do so, nor by intention. Rather, an explicit verbal utterance is necessary to enact it. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta, and Sheikh Ibn Baz have all affirmed that a promise of divorce does not constitute a divorce.
