It was previously explained that "hadath" (minor ritual impurity) in the chapter on purity, according to jurists, and "najis" or "khabath" (filth) meaning impurity, refers to: anything whose consumption is forbidden, not due to its inherent sacredness, nor due to its being repulsive, nor due to harm to the body or mind. These restrictions were mentioned to exclude what is permissible, and what is forbidden but not impure, such as hunting in the Haram (sacred precinct), and what is forbidden due to its harm but not impure, such as poison, and what is repulsive but pure, such as mucus. As for "ushnan" and "khatmi" (mallow), they are plants used for washing, similar to "sidr" (lote tree leaves), and jurists mention them in the chapter on washing the deceased.
