Is it possible for a human being in the present age to exist without sins or transgressions, and if afflicted by a calamity, it would not be due to their sins but rather for the elevation of their status?

If a servant is steadfast in adhering to Allah's religion, then calamities elevate their ranks and weigh down their scale of good deeds. However, if they are persistent in disobedience, then calamities may serve as a warning for them to repent, or as a punishment in this world. It is not possible to definitively determine this for a specific person, but it can be inferred from circumstantial evidence. One should reflect on their affliction in a way that increases their devotion and closeness to their Lord, and they should blame themselves, for everyone errs. It is not possible to be certain whether an affliction is a punishment, an expiation for a sin, or an elevation of ranks. The Holy Quran has clarified that what befalls a person is due to their actions, as stated in the Almighty's words: "And is it that when a calamity befell you, and you had inflicted twice as much, you say, 'From where is this?' Say, 'It is from yourselves.' Indeed, Allah is over all things competent," and His saying: "And whatever calamity befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much."
