What is the ruling on the elderly, ill father's 'awrah being uncovered before his son's wife when she is cleaning him?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If your father does not have a wife to care for him, and you or your siblings are unable to help him remove impurities, and you cannot provide a male servant, then it is permissible for your wife to do so out of necessity. It is preferable that she does this without seeing the 'awrah (private parts) or touching directly with her hand, such as if your father's body is covered with a loincloth and your wife wears gloves. However, if she is compelled to touch directly, there is no religious impediment.
