When we say, "All praise is due to Allah, who guided us to this; and we would not have been guided had not Allah guided us," does this mean that man is predetermined in guidance, not given a choice? And consequently, why does Allah create people and choose from among them believers and disbelievers, then punish the disbelievers when they had no choice in their faith or disbelief? And what if the disbeliever did not find time or an opportunity to believe? And will a child who was born Christian and died as a Christian one day after reaching maturity be punished?
Allah does not punish except those who deserve punishment after proof has been established against them through the sending of messengers and the message reaching them. Those who have not received the correct Islamic message and have not heard of the Prophet, peace be upon him, will be tested in the plains of resurrection. As for those whom the message has reached and who have heard of the Prophet but did not believe in him, they will be punished.
