The ruling on coloring animate beings is the same as the ruling on depicting them. Thus, what is forbidden to draw is forbidden to color, and what is permitted to draw is permitted to color. The basic ruling concerning drawing animate beings is prohibition, with the following exceptions: what is for teaching children, electronic drawings free from Sharia prohibitions, images of incomplete creation that cannot sustain life, indistinct images whose features are not discernible, and what is imaginary and has no counterpart in reality.
