How can one deal with a father who neither works nor cares about debts, and is very quarrelsome, while the children suffer in their studies despite their diligence?

The essence of the problem is that you have been afflicted with poverty after a period of affluence, and you have not been patient. This has affected you and your father, leading to a decline in your academic excellence, an accumulation of debts for your father, and his becoming indifferent. This change is natural for many people when their financial circumstances alter.

The path to a solution lies in: 1. Seeking refuge in Allah Almighty and increasing acts of seeking forgiveness, as it has a great effect in attracting provision (rizq). 2. Striving diligently in your studies to regain your previous academic excellence. 3. Being patient with your father, drawing closer to him, and showing him dutifulness to help him overcome his tribulation. 4. Seeking assistance from your mother or wise individuals to advise your father and encourage him to recover. 5. Providing financial assistance to your father from siblings who are capable of working. 6. What has befallen you might be due to the evil eye. You should protect yourselves with the Quran and legitimate ruqya, and seek help from a trustworthy raqi (exorcist).
