Is it permissible to resume sexual intercourse with one's wife before performing ghusl after the first act of intercourse?

It is permissible for a Muslim to resume sexual intercourse without performing ghusl (full ablution) or wudu (partial ablution), as the Prophet used to visit his wives with a single ghusl, and this indicates permissibility. However, it is preferable for him to perform wudu if he wishes to resume, due to the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "If one of you comes to his wife, then wishes to return, let him perform wudu between them."
