Is filth (al-qadhar) intended to mean only ritual impurity (al-najāsa)?

Filth (al-qadhar) is a term for anything that the soul disdains and dislikes, whether it is ritually impure (najis) or not. Thus, it is more general than najis. An example of its application to what is ritually impure is the hadith in which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned the reason for taking off his sandals during prayer, saying: "Jibril came to me and informed me that there was filth on them." An example of its application to something that is not physically impure is the leper's statement to the angel: "So that this thing which has made people detest me (qadhdharnī) may disappear from me," meaning they disliked him because of it. Another example is the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Avoid these foul things (al-qadhurat)."
