However, there is no explicit text that can be used to prove its Sunnah (prophetic tradition) status. Meanwhile, the Malikis, Shafi'is, and Hanbalis, in one opinion, favored holding the marriage contract in Shawwal, citing the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) action and his marriage to Aisha in Shawwal.
