How is the inheritance divided among a mother, three full brothers, two full sisters, and five paternal half-sisters?

If the deceased leaves no heirs other than those mentioned, the mother receives one-sixth due to the presence of siblings, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿فَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ﴾ [If he has brothers (and sisters), then for his mother is one-sixth]. The remainder goes to the full brothers and two full sisters by ta’sib (residuary inheritance), with the male receiving the share of two females, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿وَإِنْ كَانُوا إِخْوَةً رِجَالًا وَنِسَاءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنْثَيَيْنِ﴾ [And if they are brothers and sisters, males and females, then the male shall have the share of two females]. The sisters from the father's side receive nothing, as they are excluded by the full brother.

The inheritance is divided into 48 shares: the mother receives one-sixth (8 shares), each full brother receives 10 shares, and each full sister receives 5 shares.

We advise the enquirer that matters of inheritance are serious and complex, and a mere fatwa is insufficient. Rather, the matter must be presented to the Sharia courts for review and investigation, as there might be other heirs, bequests, or debts that take precedence over the heirs' rights. Therefore, do not divide the inheritance without consulting the Sharia courts.
