What is the ruling on selling items such as a door handle plated with gold and silver?

It is not permissible to sell tools and instruments plated with gold and silver according to the majority of scholars, because their use is forbidden, and what is forbidden to use is forbidden to sell. The Hanafis have permitted benefiting from what is plated if it is a small amount from which nothing can be extracted, but the more cautious approach is to adopt the view of the majority.
