Playing is an activity for enjoyment and entertainment. It is the utilization of the body's kinetic energy to bring psychological pleasure. Its definition in Islam differs in that the aim is the psychological and physical impact resulting from play, and the necessity of it being bound by the controls of Islamic law. Among these controls are: not exposing one's 'awrah (parts of the body that should be covered), not neglecting obligatory duties, and avoiding unlawful mixing. There is no specific time for play in Islamic law, so it is permissible to engage in it at any age unless it is accompanied by something that makes it unlawful, and provided it is taken as a means for preparation and achieving victory, or for recreation and maintaining health.
