What is the husband's duty toward his wife's family, and does priority after marriage belong to the husband or to the parents? And is it wrong in Islam to lose one's virginity before marriage?
Parents have a great right, but the husband has an even greater right. If the wife sees that her husband has wronged her parents, she should advise him and remind him that the Almighty's saying: (And live with them honorably) includes treating her family kindly. If her parents wrong her husband, she should advise them and remind them of the seriousness of backbiting and injustice. If the command of her parents conflicts with the command of her husband, the husband's command takes precedence because it is greater in Islamic law. It is not forbidden in Islamic law for a man to have sexual intercourse with his wife after the legal marriage contract and before the wedding; and if a man divorces his wife after consummating the marriage with her, she is entitled to the full dowry.
