The answer

The texts of Islamic law and the sayings of the imams of the religion have consistently prioritized the husband's rights over others, including the rights of parents. It is narrated by Al-Husayn ibn Mihsan that an aunt of his came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said to her, "Are you married?" She said, "Yes." He said, "How are you with him?" She said, "I do not fall short in anything except what I am unable to do." He said, "Then look to where you stand with him, for he is your Paradise and your Hell." (Authenticated by Al-Albani). And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone, I would have commanded the woman to prostrate to her husband." (Narrated by Ibn Majah and others, authenticated by Al-Albani). Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said, "When a woman marries, her husband has more authority over her than her parents, and her obedience to her husband is more obligatory." He also said, "So she is not allowed to leave his house except with his permission, whether her father or mother or anyone other than her parents commands her to do so, by agreement of the imams."

The wisdom behind this is that a woman's life passes through two stages: 1. Before marriage: The rights of the parents are greater, especially the mother. 2. After marriage: The husband's rights are greater than the parents' rights, because the husband is responsible for providing for and caring for her. He is the one who provides material, emotional, and sexual fulfillment for his wife, and this is a reward for his good treatment.

Furthermore, Islamic law is keen on preserving the family unit, and the wife is an essential pillar within it. And because a woman is emotional and easily influenced, wisdom necessitated making the greatest rights upon her the rights of the husband, so that she would hasten to obey him and seek his pleasure. This preserves the family unit and unifies the direction of leadership and obedience for the wife, so that she does not fall victim to conflicting rights.
