Is the parents' eagerness for their children to marry an innate desire and a religiously commanded act, and what is its proof? Or is it because they wish to see their grandchildren? And is a son's refusal to marry an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq)? And is their happiness found in marriage itself or in stability? Meaning, are they harmed by the instability of their son's marriage?

Parents' keenness to marry off their children is in line with the innate human disposition (fitra). If parents command their child to marry, the child must obey them if he is able to do so without harm. Some scholars obligate a wealthy father to marry off his poor son who is in need of marriage.

If parents command their child to marry a specific woman whom he does not desire, he is not obligated to obey them, nor is he considered disobedient (aqq) for disobeying them in this matter; because permanent marriage to someone one does not desire harms the individual.
