A husband must fulfill the conditions of the marriage contract; otherwise, the wife has the right to annul the marriage, unless the condition involves committing something forbidden. In this case, the wife does not have the right to annul the marriage or seek divorce unless there is a legitimate reason. If the divorce occurs after consummation, the wife is entitled to her full mahr (dowry); if it is before consummation, she is entitled to half of the mahr. In the case of khul' (divorce at the wife's instance), the wife may waive the mahr or a portion of it.
