The answer

It is permissible to designate a prayer area for women at the rear of the mosque with a partition separating them from men, or without a partition, as was the case during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, provided there is no fitnah (temptation) and they adhere to Islamic manners. It is preferable for them to have a separate entrance for their coming and going. However, women standing alongside men in the prayer rows is not permissible. Designating a special prayer area for them is more appropriate and imperative in our current time, due to the transgressions that have occurred among women. But if they pray behind men with proper Islamic manners, there is no harm, especially if a benefit results from it.
