Does Umar's—may God be pleased with him—return of the land of Fadak to Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn—may God be pleased with them—indicate that Abu Bakr and Umar—may God be pleased with them both—erred by not returning it to Fatimah—may God be pleased with her—during her lifetime?
We have not come across this narration which speaks of the regret of Abu Bakr and Umar - may Allah be pleased with them - and Umar's confirmation of the hadith: "We do not inherit; what we leave is charity." It has been authentically established in the two Sahih collections that Umar gave Ali and Al-Abbas what Allah bestowed upon His Messenger from the wealth of Banu An-Nadir, on condition that they manage it as the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and Abu Bakr had managed it.
