Do the noble Hadiths that prohibit asking people excessively include all types of requests, including a wife's request from her husband or vice versa, or a manager's request for water from an employee? Is it permissible to ask those whose obedience is obligatory, or for the young to order the old or vice versa? What is better in that regard? Is the prohibition against asking specific to money, or does it include asking for other things, such as asking for a pen when one is able to bring or buy it? What if bringing it entails harm? What is the ruling on the saying "I ask Allah and I do not ask a servant of Allah" and spreading it as a way of life?
The forbidden kind of asking is asking people for their money. However, it is permissible for a person to ask for a right that is due to them. Thus, there is no harm if a husband asks his wife or his child for a right that is his, or if she asks him for a right that is hers, and similarly for the one in charge to ask his workers. As for a person asking a colleague for a need, it is better to refrain from it. And the saying, "Whoever complains of his worry to Allah, it will be removed..." has no basis, except that it is established in the Hadith: "Whoever is afflicted by a need and submits it to people, his need will not be met; and whoever is afflicted by a need and submits it to Allah, Allah is likely to provide for him a swift or delayed sustenance."
