Is there a greater reward for one who grows his beard fully compared to one who shortens it, and what are the proofs from the Sunnah of the Prophet regarding the importance of growing the beard?

More than twenty authentic hadiths have been reported, commanding the growing of the beard and prohibiting its shaving, and forbidding imitation of Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians. The majority of scholars have held that it is obligatory to grow the beard and forbidden to shave it. Growing it means leaving it without trimming or shortening. Some are of the view that growing it means leaving what covers the jawbones, even if it is less than a fistful. Al-Ghazali mentioned the difference of opinion among the Salaf regarding trimming the beard if it became long; some permitted cutting what exceeded a fistful, while others disliked that, adhering to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And grow your beards." Al-Nawawi favored the view of disliking any trimming of it whatsoever, and leaving it as it is, as this is the most complete way of following his (peace be upon him) guidance.
