What is the ruling on medicines that contain a percentage of alcohol?

It is not permissible to mix medicine with alcohol because alcohol must be disposed of. If medicine is mixed with alcohol, then if the proportion of alcohol is large enough to make the medicine intoxicating, it is alcohol and is forbidden to consume. However, if the proportion of alcohol is small, such that it does not cause intoxication, then there is no harm in consuming it.
