Is it permissible for the husband to take his wife back legally after he has uttered the divorce pronouncement with the words "You are divorced" and then "Rather, by six," intending to end the situation and be rid of his wife, knowing that they are currently living together?

1. If the husband repeats the divorce using a single phrase or multiple phrases, such as "You are thrice divorced" or "You are divorced, divorced, divorced," the more authoritative opinion is that it counts as a single divorce. He can reconcile with his wife during her iddah (waiting period) if it was the first or second divorce. Some scholars hold that a triple divorce counts as one, citing the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).

2. Divorce pronounced in a state of extreme anger that renders one unconscious is not valid according to the majority of scholars. However, if the anger is severe but does not lead to unconsciousness, the majority holds that the divorce is valid, while some scholars lean towards it being invalid. In cases of mild or moderate anger, divorce is valid by scholarly consensus.

3. It is not permissible for a woman to seek divorce except for a legitimate reason, such as ill-treatment, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without any sound reason, the fragrance of Paradise will be forbidden to her."

4. A divorced woman must observe her iddah in her husband's home, and she is not permitted to leave it until her iddah concludes, based on Allah's (the Most High) saying: "Do not expel them from their houses, nor should they themselves leave, unless they commit a flagrant indecency." In the case of a revocable divorce, the husband may reconcile with his wife by word or deed with the intention of reconciliation.
