Is the wife sinful for refusing to treat her husband for a health problem affecting their marital relationship after 15 years of marriage, especially since he had previously refused treatment and she bore the situation?

The husband must ensure his wife's chastity, and this is one of her most emphasized rights upon him. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "It is obligatory for a man to have sexual relations with his wife in a good manner; this is one of her most emphasized rights upon him." If he is unable to ensure her chastity due to sexual weakness, he must seek treatment. Al-Qurtubi said: "If a man perceives himself to be incapable of fulfilling her right in her bed, he should take medicines that increase his potency and strengthen his desire, so that he may keep her chaste."

It is not the wife's right to refuse her husband's pursuit of treatment. If he is cured and calls her to bed, she is not permitted to refuse except for a legitimate Shar'i excuse; because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning." Al-Nawawi mentioned that this "is proof of the prohibition of her refusing his bed without a legitimate Shar'i excuse." The husband has the right to enjoy his wife whenever he wishes, as long as he does not keep her from obligatory duties or harm her.
