Is it sufficient for dry ablution (tayammum) that the time for prayer has begun, or is it necessary to wait for the iqamah (call to commence prayer) for congregational prayer in the mosque?

The most preponderant view is that it is permissible for the one performing tayammum to do so before the entry of the prayer time, and it is permissible for him to pray more than one fard (obligatory) prayer with a single tayammum. The majority of scholars hold that tayammum is not valid unless performed after the entry of the prayer time, while the Malikis stipulated that tayammum must be immediately connected to the prayer. All these opinions are considered valid.
