What is the ruling on praying Tarawih with four rak’ahs, with two tashahhuds and one salam aloud, repeated five times? Is the Witr prayer permissible if the Imam says the takbir after the Fatiha and a surah in the last rak’ah without raising the hands for du’a before bowing? And is it possible to pray Qiyam al-Layl at home to attain the reward mentioned in the hadith, and what is the minimum number of its rak’ahs?

The Sunnah concerning the Tarawih prayer and the night vigil (Qiyam al-Layl) in general is for the Muslim to pray two rak'ahs by two rak'ahs, making a taslim after every two, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The night prayer is two by two." This is also what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do. As for praying Tarawih four rak'ahs with one taslim, it is disliked by the majority of scholars, and prohibited by some, while the Hanafis permit it. If the Imam prays in this manner, there is no harm in praying behind him. The minimum by which one achieves the virtue of Qiyam al-Layl is two rak'ahs.
