What is the ruling, according to the school of thought of Imam Abu Hanifa, regarding the conditions a man may stipulate for a second wife, such as living with her family or in a separate apartment at his expense, without the knowledge of the first wife?

It is permissible to marry another woman provided one is able to provide for her and deal justly between the wives, and to ensure their chastity. The wife has the right to an independent dwelling, but if she agrees to stay with her family or accepts a specific maintenance, that is permissible. According to the Madhhab of Abu Hanifa, the wife has the right to a dwelling free from the husband's family to ensure her privacy and security, unless she chooses otherwise. If the husband does not spend on his wife after the maintenance has been assessed or agreed upon, the ruler will imprison him for his injustice.
