Is it permissible to prevent the wife's mother from entering the house as a punishment, in retaliation for the mother's dignity, after an argument occurred between them, while allowing the wife to visit her family?

A husband has the right to prevent anyone from entering his home. However, it is preferable for him not to prevent his wife's parents from visiting her, unless they corrupt her against him or he fears harm from them. The correct view is that he should not prevent them from entering to see her every Friday.

Therefore, a husband should not prevent his wife's mother from visiting her merely due to a dispute. However, he may prevent her from entering his home for purposes other than visiting. It is best for the husband to strive to reconcile between them, as mending relationships is among the most beloved deeds to Allah.
