Is a divorce that took place under duress and pressure permissible? Is it permissible for the wife to marry someone she does not love under pressure? Does a divorce that was executed through an attorney on behalf of the husband, after pressure and humiliation from the wife's family, take effect?

It is not permissible to intervene between spouses to cause separation between them, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "He is not of us who incites a woman against her husband." It is also not permissible to force a husband to divorce, and if he is compelled to do so by irresistible coercion, the divorce does not take effect. However, if the coercion is not irresistible, the divorce is valid, and the husband may take his wife back as long as she is within her waiting period (iddah) and the divorce has not been finalized by three pronouncements. There is no objection to delegating the act of divorce. Likewise, it is not permissible for the father or brothers to marry off their sister to someone she does not approve of, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A non-virgin woman has more right to herself than her guardian, and a virgin must be asked for her permission, and her silence is her permission." The resolution of disputes falls under the jurisdiction of the Sharia court.
