Is the irrevocable divorce the first, second, or third pronouncement if he has not previously uttered the word of divorce? And is it permissible to take back one's wife via text message after an irrevocable divorce? And does divorce occur if the woman is menstruating?

Revocable divorce (طلاق رجعي) refers to the first and second divorces, if they are not for a financial consideration. It entails that this divorce counts as one of the three permissible divorces and permits the husband to take back his wife during her waiting period (iddah) without a new contract or mahr (dowry). Irrevocable divorce (طلاق بائن) is of two types: a major irrevocable divorce (بينونة كبرى) which occurs after three divorces, ending the marriage contract entirely, and it is not permissible for him to marry her again until she has married another husband. A minor irrevocable divorce (بينونة صغرى) occurs with a divorce for a compensation (khul'), or before consummation of the marriage, or if the husband does not take her back until the waiting period ends. This type of divorce ends the contract but allows for a new marriage with a new contract and mahr.

The waiting period (iddah) for a divorced woman who menstruates is three menstrual cycles. If the husband takes her back before the third menstrual cycle, she remains his wife. Otherwise, she becomes irrevocably divorced from him with a minor irrevocable divorce (بينونة صغرى).

Reconciliation (raj'ah) is valid through verbal declaration or written statement accompanied by the intention to reconcile. It does not require the wife's consent or knowledge; in fact, it is valid even if she is unaware of it.

Initiating divorce during menstruation is an act of disobedience, and whether it takes effect is a matter of dispute among jurists. However, completing official procedures related to divorce has no bearing on menstruation.
