If I receive a gift of a slaughtered animal, is it permissible for me to sacrifice it?

If a gift is received in the form of an animal from the livestock that is permissible for sacrifice, and it meets the stipulated conditions, then it is permissible to sacrifice it. It is a condition for the sacrificial animal that it be free from defects and that it has reached the age specified by Islamic law for each type. Thus, only a camel that has completed five years is acceptable, and only a cow that has completed two years. For sheep, an animal that is six months old is acceptable, and for goats, one that is one year old.
