Is the "soul" intended in verse 32 of Surah Al-Ma'idah exclusively the human soul, or any soul among Allah's creations?

The Quranic context of the verse: "that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely" indicates that the intended meaning of "soul" here is a human soul, especially if it is innocent and has not committed murder deserving of retribution or corruption in the land. So, whoever kills it unjustly is as if he has killed all people, and whoever saves its life is as if he has saved the lives of all people. Ibn Al-Jawzi mentioned five interpretations for the meaning of "it is as if he had slain mankind entirely," among them that he bears the sin of killing all people, or that he will be punished as one who kills all people.
